Background
The Rivermen Jr. Drum Corps is a new regionally performing drum and bugle corps presented by Oregon Performing Arts Association (OPAA). This organization consists of approximately 120 young men and women ages 14 to 21 located in the greater Portland Metro area. This year the Rivermen will be competing in the Soundsport, a program of Drum Corps International.
Membership
During the auditions you will have the opportunity to work not only in large group setting but also one-on-one with instructors so they can provide more specific feedback. The staff will be evaluating many aspects. The staff will be looking for skills beyond just performing like how quickly you apply information and willingness to learn and improve. Having a positive attitude and growth mindset will set you up for a successful experience with the Rivermen. After auditions you will be notified of your placement in the Rivermen. Once you have earned a spot in the corps, you will need to pay 1/3 of the tuition + the audition fee, which pays for tuition, all days, and tour.
